Our Work & Services

At Bristol Somali Forum, we are dedicated to working directly with Somali organisations and the wider Somali community in Bristol and its surrounding areas.

Our mission is to empower and support this vibrant community in various ways, creating a stronger, more inclusive society for all. Here’s a glimpse into what we do:

Bringing the Community Together:
We provide a platform where members of the Somali community can come together to discuss issues and concerns that matter most to them.

By fostering open and meaningful dialogues, we aim to strengthen the bonds within our community and create a space for sharing valuable information.

Empowering Through Signposting:
Whether you’re just starting or in need of guidance, we’re here to empower you. Our team offers signposting services to connect individuals with the support they require, ensuring that no one in our community is left without the help they need.

Collaborating for a Better Tomorrow:
We understand the importance of collaboration. That’s why we actively partner with other organisations to enhance the living conditions of our community.

By working together, we can achieve greater impact and drive positive change.

Education and Support for Success:
“Education serves as the cornerstone of achievement.

Our mission is to facilitate access to education and information, fostering the growth and well-being of the Somali community and their children, with a particular focus on promoting social inclusion.

We firmly believe that knowledge is the catalyst for empowerment, benefiting both individuals and entire communities.

Additionally, we actively collaborate with schools to establish constructive connections within our community.

Our efforts are dedicated to assisting schools in surmounting challenges and barriers, which could range from enhancing parental involvement to providing mentorship for students of Somali heritage.”

Promoting Awareness, Fostering Transformation:
Our dedication lies in promoting greater public awareness of the challenges confronting the Somali community, which encompass issues like mental health, substance abuse, knife-related crimes, prevalent health concerns (such as diabetes), and the exclusion of students from schools.

Our ultimate goal is to shine a spotlight on these pressing matters, initiating meaningful dialogues and championing the pursuit of enduring solutions.

Representation on Various Platforms:
We take pride in representing the Somali community across multiple platforms, including: We actively engage in local and regional activities, advocating for critical matters that impact our community such rising cost of living, food poverty, healthcare, employment, and educational underachievement.

Our collaborative efforts extend to partnering with community organisations to address these issues effectively.

Promoting Interfaith Peace and Mutual Understanding:
Collaborating with a diverse range of organisations, both Muslim and non-Muslim, in events like the annual Grand Iftar is a praiseworthy endeavour that promotes religious harmony and understanding in Bristol.

The inclusion of non-Muslims in these celebrations fosters inclusivity, offers educational insights into Islamic traditions, encourages community building, and provides a platform for interfaith dialogue.

By celebrating diversity and building trust through such collaborative efforts, you contribute to peaceful coexistence, showcase the city’s cultural richness, and create a more inclusive and united community where people of all backgrounds can thrive together, while also paving the way for valuable partnerships and networking opportunities.

Celebrating Culture and Heritage:
One of our proudest achievements is being the driving force behind the annual Bristol Somali Festival and Culture. This vibrant and diverse celebration allows us to showcase the rich heritage, traditions, and talents of the Somali community. It’s an opportunity for everyone to come together, learn, appreciate, and embrace the beauty of Somali culture.

At Bristol Somali Forum, our commitment to the Somali community in Bristol and its surroundings goes beyond the ordinary. We believe in creating a holistic environment where individuals can not only overcome challenges but also thrive and celebrate their unique identity. Join us in our journey of empowerment, education, and cultural enrichment. Together, we can build a brighter future for all.

“Ensuring Access to Vital Information: Our Bilingual Material Creation”
Revised Statement: Our organization is dedicated to crafting bilingual resources, encompassing pamphlets and visual aids, with the aim of ensuring that our community members can readily access the crucial information they need.
